The mission of the Institute for Global Leadership (IGL) at Tufts University is to prepare new generations of critical thinkers for effective and ethical leadership, ready to engage complex international and national issues across cultures as global citizens.
The Institute has nine core programs: Education for Public Inquiry and International Citizenship (EPIIC), the Tufts Institute for Leadership and International Perspective (TILIP), Inquiry, EXPOSURE, Voices from the Field, Institute Practitioners and Scholars in Residence (INSPIRE), Global Research and Internship Program, and the Dr. Jean Mayer Global Lecture Series. And the Institute will continue to develop new initiatives.
The IGL also has eight student initiatives that it initiated and that it works with annually. As of 2005 these include The New Initiative for Middle East Peace (NIMEP), BUILD Nicaragua, Tufts Energy Security Initiative, Tufts Uganda Internship Program, the Iran Dialogue Initiative, Engineers without Borders, Central American Peace Process Project, and the Amohoro Project.
More than 180 Tufts students participate in Institute programs annually; more than 100 conduct research projects abroad; more than 100 receive academic credit through the Institute, either through courses or independent research; and more than 350 high school students participation Inquiry annually from 20+ high schools in 6+ states.
The Institute's Web Designer and Multimedia Coordinator is responsible for maintaining all of the Institute's web sites, for coordinating Special Events, for coordinating the Institute's AV needs, for assisting with Institute publicity and publications, and for technical trouble-shooting. The Web Designer and Multimedia Coordinator uses the following software, as well as researching/learning others, for graphic design, web design photography manipulation and video editing work:
Basic Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in coordinating a broad range of public events, from conferences to exhibitions preferred.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:This position does require the employee to work the three major weekend conference events the Institute holds each year; in addition, this position will coordinate with the Program Assistant to staff evening events.
