FULL-TIME TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION
Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management
Columbia College Chicago is an urban institution of over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students emphasizing arts, media, and communications in a liberal arts setting. The Department of Arts, Entertainment and Media Management (AEMM) at Columbia College Chicago is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position, rank open, in the department's core management areas (strategy, economics, finance) beginning August 16, 2010.
Responsibilities include teaching, advising students, and participating in curriculum development and committee service at the department and college level. Use of active teaching and learning approaches is expected, as well as demonstrated ability to embed course concepts in real world application. The applicant is also expected to continue active research, creative endeavor, or professional practice and professional development in his/her field.
Qualifications include an advanced or terminal degree in a related field, established research and scholarship record, and demonstrated competence in interdisciplinary approaches. This faculty position requires a track record of excellence and innovation in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in the arts, entertainment, and media or experience in related activities that suggests strong likelihood of success in the classroom. A background in the arts and professional experience in one of the department's seven concentrations (music business, fashion/retail, visual arts, performing arts, media arts, small business/entrepreneurship, and sports management) is also preferred.
The Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management department is a vibrant mix of full-time and part-time faculty preparing students for careers managing cultural institutions and businesses. AEMM students learn to appreciate the value of the arts; to understand the economic, social and political climate in which they operate; and to anticipate the challenges and opportunities of the future.
