JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company´s advanced video and signal processing hardware, software and electrical systems. Designs, implements, monitors, enhances and troubleshoots systems in assigned areas. Works closely with technical operations staff on system design and configuration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Contribute to the Company vision of being the industry leader in customer service through
quality, commitment, courtesy and teamwork
Work with Corporate Engineering to design and test system designs
Develop, design and implement electronic systems including audio, video and other multimedia equipment
Analyze and evaluate new or improved electronic components
Identify operational and design issues through data analysis and recommend solutions to make systems more efficient
Work with the field on the implementation of network related projects and other standardization efforts
Work with vendors to resolve bugs and design flaws
Perform detailed problem diagnosis, track and update problems in trouble ticketing system
Create training materials and present to other engineers
Develop problem resolution procedures required to meet serviceability requirements
Function as lead level and provide technical guidance and assistance to other support teams across enterprise
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
WORKING CONDITIONS
Scheduled periodic 24 x 7 on call availability required
May require shift work with varying schedules in 24 x 7 Network Operations Center

A. Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
Ability to isolate and troubleshoot failed equipment, facility issues and other network components Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to operate personal computer
Ability to work with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations
Knowledge and understanding of video, data and voice communications networks, IP networking
IP networking knowledge should include: Routing, Switching, Routing protocols, ISIS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF MPLS, TCP/IP protocols, SNMP, ARP etc.
Knowledge of UNIX and UNIX tools such as Grep & VI
Ability to write scripts in PERL, C shell, BSH etc.
Knowledge of HSD products, services, and NOC procedures
Knowledge of cable television products and services
Knowledge of HP OpenView, CiscoWorks, Remedy, Micromuse Netcool network and element
management systems
B. Education (level and type)
Bachelor´s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related technical field
