Company Overview

Submarine is a cross-media production company in the centre of Amsterdam, specialised in film, documentary, games, websites and animation series. Using the latest digital technologies, Submarine collaborates with an international network of creatives to break new ground in film, animation, and web productions.

Submarine produces children’s animation series for broadcast both within the Netherlands and internationally; short animation films that explore new techniques and styles, with special attention on the possibilities of migrating to other formats – from games to print. Submarine aims to produce long animation films for both young and adult audiences, with a particular focus on developing projects that tell contemporary stories in a distinctive visual language. Submarine animation projects begin with a strong story, and then we look for an original, accessible visual style to depict the narrative. We have a particular interest in 2 and 3D computer animation, and hybrid formats that combine animation and live-action. Submarine aims to become a leading European animation producer.

Currently, there are 25 employees at Submarine: directors, designers, producers, editors, and programmers. The Submarine team enjoys an informal, open, innovative, and dynamic work culture.
